Our fourth and final Power Breakfast of 2011 takes place on Tuesday, November 29 at the Terminal City Club. Join us to hear Leonard George, Director, Tsleil-Waututh Nation Economic Development Department and Marc Soulliere, President and CEO, TWN Wind Power Inc. describe how an urban First Nation partnered with and invested in Surrey-based Endurance Wind Power Inc. to become a distributor of wind turbines to First Nations businesses, communities and Aboriginal groups throughout North America … and their plans for the future.

 

Leonard George, Tsleil-Waututh Nation

Leonard George is one of the founding members of the Vancouver Aboriginal Centre where he served as executive director from 1981 to 1988 and served as elected Chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation from 1989 to 2001.

Leonard is chief negotiator for the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and director of the Nation’s Economic Development Department. He also serves as a director of Takaya Developments Ltd., president of Takaya Tours Inc., and director of Children of Takaya cultural group.

Leonard has volunteered and worked for various schools, universities, children’s hospitals and organizations. He gives back to his community through his experience in the business world, offering lectures, knowledge and past business experience to various individuals, organizations and business boards.

 

Marc Soulliere, TWN Wind Power Inc.

Marc Soulliere is President and CEO of TWN Wind Power Inc., a wholly owned operating company of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Marc has over 15-years of experience in senior sales management roles in the wireless technology industry, and most recently entered the wind energy industry.  In 2008 he began researching and investing in cleantech companies.

With TWN Wind Power Inc., Marc is focused on creating partnerships with Aboriginal communities across Canada and the USA for wind energy generation solutions.

Small and community wind projects are the quickest and easiest way for First Nations to realize the benefits of Renewable Energy – creating immediate and long-term economic development opportunites that yield revenue, jobs, and education.
